Perhaps-too-Casual Friday

I slept in this morning and got ready in a real rush.

I shouldn't complain, because sleeping in is a far sight better than being awakened at 4:45 a.m. by a little person patting me on the shoulder and repeating "Mama, wake UP!" But I still feel a little disheveled and out of sorts.

Today was an exercise in accessorizing. I'm trying to sell the idea that a bright lip and colorful scarf are enough to dress up this, let's be honest, very pedestrian acrylic pullover sweater, rather ordinary jeans and my mud- and salt-stained boots.

I really need to take better care of these. They were a total splurge, the first time in years and years that I paid full price for shoes, and they weren't cheap at that. I spent more on these boots than I did on the entire outfit for my wedding. But I am really hoping they will last me for a long time. I wear them at least once a week all fall and winter, and probably much later into the spring than I should. I love them.

Scarf: Vintage, thrifted
Sweater: Thrifted
Jeans: Loft, thrifted
Boots: My trusty Franco Sartos

  1. I really love this outfit! The teal and orange are such a wonderful combination!
