Toddler Thursday make-up post

First off, thanks to everyone who participated in yesterday's Work It Wednesdays linkup despite the technical problems I had :(  I will be announcing next week's challenge theme tomorrow for anyone who wants to join in the next round — I promise to sort out my linking issues by then!

I didn't manage a Toddler Tuesdays post this week because my little one was having a very bad morning, so we gave it a crack today. She was not her usual sunny self, but I managed to coax a few smiles out of her.

She had a lot of fun playing with Mama's necklace — always a fascinating object! She often declares the necklaces I wear to be "mine" and tries to put them on, which makes me nervous because I imagine she'll strangle herself. Sometimes I wonder what she thinks of all this silly picture-taking; as she gets older, I hope to be able to give her positive messages about self-image and beauty but, oh, it's complicated, isn't it?

I just bought this necklace recently from Danielle of Goodwillista — if you haven't checked out her Instagram sale account yet (@goodwillistascloset), head on over there and take a peek. I scored this beauty for $9 shipped, and I am IN LOVE. I literally gasped when I saw it. I have been wanting a larger "statement"-style necklace for a long time, and this is so perfect, I feel like I can wear it with everything.

I recently got these shoes back from the cobbler's, where I had him replace a missing heel cap. He quite sternly told me to "hang on to these" shoes and emphasized that they were of a high quality. I think I paid $4.99 for them at Salvation Army! They fit like a dream and are actually pretty comfortable, having somewhat flexible soles. I am happy to have them back and in good shape for the spring and summer — although I love them here, too, with darker stockings.

And here is my third fashion challenge item for the week: a brown and bias-plaid A-line skirt. I bought this at a fantastic thrift store in Troy, N.Y., that is now sadly defunct. My husband and I used to always stop there on our pilgrimages to visit college friends at Bennington. Which means I've had this skirt for probably 10 years now! I have high turnover in my wardrobe, so that's something of an accomplishment.

Off-white cardigan: Old Navy, thrifted
Ivory flower necklace: Vintage, @goodwillistascloset
Blue peasant top: Vintage, thrifted
Brown plaid skirt: Vintage, thrifted
Brown diamond print stockings
Cream and tan Mary Jane pumps: Antonio Melani, thrifted
Total cost: About $24

Don't forget about this week's giveaway — you can win a beautiful (if I do say so myself) handknit set of fingerless mitts and a kerchief, perfect to chase away the late-winter chills. Check out this post for all the details on how to enter — my social media links are in the sidebar at the left, or you can just leave a comment on the giveaway post any time before midnight tomorrow (Eastern time).

  1. Nice picture, and can I ask if you have makeup on that pictures ma'am? And also I love your shoes. Thanks for sharing this to us.
