Work It Wednesday: Red + green - Christmas
My co-worker and I decided we're going to do a weekly fashion challenge, which I've decided to call Work It Wednesdays. This week's challenge was to pair green and red without looking "Christmas-y."
My approach was to use olive green instead of kelly green, and to introduce brown into the palette, which I felt like gave it kind of an outdoorsy, Girl Scout vibe instead of "Have a Holly Jolly Christmas."
I was kind of inspired by Solanah of Vixen Vintage when I put this outfit together, but I'm not sure I pulled it off completely. There are elements that I like, but it just doesn't feel comfortable to me. That being said, nothing really felt comfortable during this shoot because I had just slipped on the ice and knocked the wind out of myself. So excuse the crabby faces!
Anyway, next week's challenge is to make a summer dress winter-appropriate. Marlen of Messages on a Napkin has totally been nailing this look recently, so I'm going to experiment with a few cues from her playbook.

What pretty colored tights! I love how you styled this look :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! This look was definitely outside my comfort zone, but it felt good to try something new. And I don't know how I lived before I had red tights - they are the best!
DeleteThanks for sharing Emily. I like how you used brown/neutrals to tone down the Christmas colors- good idea.
