Work It Wednesdays linkup: Summer dresses in winter

I'm excited to announce my first ever Work It Wednesdays linkup! This week's challenge is to style a summer dress in a winter-appropriate way. Click through to add your link at the bottom of this post. You can also vote for your favorite look.

This was actually a really hard challenge for me, because it turns out I don't really have a lot of "summery" dresses in my closet! I wound up borrowing one from my Etsy shop that I had listed last summer. With its light green and pink floral print, it's sort of more spring than summer, but I figured it still fit the challenge.

To make this springtime dress winter-appropriate, I paired it with a dark brown cardigan and burgundy tights, and topped it with my trusty pink pashmina, which I fudged into a shape that resembles an infinity scarf.

My first instinct was to wear brown pumps with this outfit, but I thought that boots would give a stronger winter feel, so I went with these brown suede pull-on wedges.

As a special thank-you to everyone who participates in this inaugural linkup, I'll be offering an exclusive coupon code for my Etsy shop to everyone who posts a link! If I don't already have your contact info, please drop me a line or leave me a comment (let me know if you want me to keep your comment private if you do not want your email address posted publicly).

**NOTE: I am having trouble with the linkup script, so if you're having trouble sharing your link, please leave it in the comment field and I will add it manually. Tech genius, over here, I tell ya.**

    1. Thanks! I am so in love with this pink scarf, I bought it at a church sale for 20 cents and I have worn it constantly this winter. I've decided pink goes with everything :)

    1. Cute boots! I got a pair of Kamik boots that I absolutely loved, and I thought I could rock them like you are in this post ... and then my dogs ate big chunks out of them. :( Not cute! But yours are adorable, I love the bold color.

  4. I love this post- good ideas! I live on the coast and I am naturally cold so I am always looking for ways to stay warm. I also have a penchant for silk, crochet, and cheap polyester blouses>>>> things that won't keep you warm so I have to layer, layer layer. I like how you added the belt on top of the cardi to show your shape- it is so easy to get lost in all the winter layers.

    1. I am allll about the belted cardigan a la Michelle Obama. I am not curvy at all so I employ lots of strategies to make it clear that I do, in fact, have a waist.
