Cheating

So, this is not EXACTLY what I'm really wearing today ... my doctor recommended I stay away from high heels (sob) while we figure out what's going on with my knee, so these shoes were photo-shoot-only material, and in real life I'm wearing flats.

Today I'm highlighting a few more items from my shop — one old, and one new.

I got this great sheer plaid dress some time last year, and took a stab at modeling it because it just did NOT seem to translate on the hanger. It's a really lovely, four-season dress — the lightweight fabric makes it easy to wear in summer, but the dark, simple color palette and 3/4-length sleeves mean that it doesn't look out of place in cold weather, either.

I paired it with this black-and-white print jacket, which I just recently bought, to show how great it looks with a blazer or other piece as well. This jacket has a great shape to it and would be fabulous left open over a pencil skirt or trousers, but I liked how it looked to belt it over this A-line skirt.

I did not even set out to mix all these prints together — it just kind of came together naturally. Which rarely happens for me, I usually plan my outfits ahead of time. But last night I fell asleep before I could even start thinking about it!

Black-and-white open-front jacket: Vintage, for sale in my shop
Black-and-white polka dot sash: from a polka dot dress
Black-and-white plaid dress: Vintage, for sale in my shop
Black plaid tights: Merona, gift
Cream and tan Mary Jane pumps: Antonio Melani, thrifted
Total cost to me: About $18

  1. Oh MY, that really does look different than on the hanger! I'm always a sucker for grid prints, and I really like that you mixed it with a plaid! So fun. And eek, I hope they find out what's wrong with your knee :/
