Playing dress-up

I'll be honest, I totally love modeling clothes for my Etsy shop. I usually sneak it in weekend mornings, when my husband is at work and my daughter is content to play nearby with her "friends" (i.e. stuffed animals), but seriously, I could do this all day.

Since my time is limited, though, I usually focus my energies on items that have been languishing in my shop for way too long (I still have a couple of the very first items I ever listed, sadly), or things that look significantly better on me than they do on the hanger (this is a short list).

Right now, as I'm trying to transition my shop to spring and summer items, I've been freshening up several listings that had been deactivated during the colder months. This gorgeous evening dress is one that I immediately knew needed a better photo to help sell it. When I put it on, my first thought was, where was this dress when I was prom shopping oh-so-many years ago (not going to do the math because then I'll just feel ancient)? It feels so perfectly glamorous and sexy without being over-the-top. And, it has POCKETS! (So you can carry your cigarettes out to the balcony and sneak a drag before the vice principal busts you. Hypothetically speaking, of course.)

I've had this brown seersucker dress for more than a year, but somehow it got overlooked last summer and I never listed it. I was scratching my head over how to style it for a while, but I had some fun with it, as you can see. (Also, I know these photos are, like, a symphony of brown ... I may have to experiment with a different backdrop.) I hope to have the listing done for this one soon.

Anyway, I'm not going to quit my day job anytime soon, but playing dress-up is just as fun these days as it was when I was a kid. Are there any pieces in my shop that you're dying to see come to life? Let me know! And don't forget about this week's giveaway — all the details are in Sunday's post
