I bought this dress a year or two ago, and absolutely fell in love with the print and the silhouette of it. Normally I steer clear of high necklines because I don't think they do me too many favors, but I couldn't resist this one. To make it work for me, I try to pair it with jackets or sweaters that give a more flattering silhouette. (See how I styled this as dress a blouse a few weeks ago.)
This "vest" is actually a shell that came as part of a twin set. I have an unfortunate weakness for sparkly knits, which I've been fighting in recent years, but this piece (and its accompanying cardigan) survived the Great Sparkle Purge, and I was pleasantly surprised at how it worked over this dress.
With the vest, the pussy bow, the skirt length and the hair I woke up with (I like to play Russian roulette by going to sleep with wet hair), I felt like I had kind of a 1920s vibe going on, so I reached for these Hush Puppies rather than heels. I adore these shoes for spring and summer; they work as oxfords with trousers or shorts (wouldn't they be cute with skinny white chinos?), and I love the retro vibe they give with skirts or dresses. I've had these in my shop for quite a while now, and if they don't sell by August when the listing expires, I think I'm just going to keep them. So if you're interested, snatch them up now!
