I know I have been sharing a lot of personal stuff lately, so I hope you'll indulge me with a little bit more. I have been feeling pretty down about this blog; I feel like I keep trying out things and falling flat on my face, either because I don't put enough/the right kind of effort into it, or just because I'm not connecting with enough/the right people. So I think I am going to fall back a little bit and regroup. I'll keep posting outfit pics, if not every day than at least several times a week, but I am going to put the giveaways and linkups on hold after this week until I have a better strategy about what I'm doing.
One of the things I struggle with on this blog is having an authentic voice. I feel like just saying that makes me sound like a phony! What I mean is, there are often other things I'm interesting in talking about, whether it's food or parenting or knitting or video games. So I am thinking about ways to incorporate my other interests here in a way that doesn't seem awkward or forced.
As an editor, I often feel really exposed by the act of creating a blog; it's like letting the whole world see your first draft. Which isn't to say I don't edit, and spend time with, my posts; but the blessing and curse of newspapers is that the bad design choices that you make kind of get erased over time because you keep putting out new newspapers. My bad design choices are right here for everyone to see! It's one big work in progress, but it's one that I really enjoy and that I value as a creative outlet. So I hope you will stick around to see where this goes — and I value your input along the way. Thanks for listening and have a great weekend! I'll be back tomorrow with a sneak peek of some of the new items I have for my Etsy and Instagram shops.
