I'll be honest, I don't remember exactly how I found Priya's blog, but I was immediately charmed by her positive attitude and her great sense of style. She is bubbling over with enthusiasm and a sense of fun without being one of those people who makes you feel like a loser because her life is so effortlessly perfect. I asked Priya a little bit about blogging and style, and here's what she had to say!
1. Describe your personal style.
I’ve definitely contemplated an answer to this question, just in case someone ever asked. My best response is- “quirky, classy.” I love simple, classic looks; like anything Jackie O or vintage-inspired, but I have to add something colorful or a fun-print! Think a borderline weird graphic tee with a full skirt, flats & a cardigan. That seems to be my “uniform”. But like every girl in the world, I love trying new things! Currently loving very simple looks for Spring, girly pink ensembles, and tougher outfits starring my leather jacket.
2. Where do you like to shop? What brands do you love?
I think those are two very different things, ha. Then again- I love Old Navy and shop there pretty much all the time, though it’s a pretty boring answer.
Other brands I love: H&M, Madewell, Target. Absolutely nothing to see here. I try to shop as little as possible, actually. Most of my coolest stuff has been “inherited” from my sister, or a friend.
3. Whose style inspires you?
My sister Carina, for one. She has inspired me since I realized we could share clothing. And since I get all her old clothes, I am pretty much always a season directly behind her! Celebs- Michelle Obama & Mindy Kaling. I love them, in general, but their style — I die. Bloggers — Sydney of The Daybook (not as much her more recent style ...)
4. What prompted you to start blogging? How has your blog evolved since you got started?
I’ve journaled my whole life, and once I found out about blogging, that seemed like the next step. I love that blogging adds pictures/videos/the whole internet (plus the community!) to the writing side. A more literal answer — I had wanted to for a while but actually started when I stopped running in college, because there came all the extra time!
How has my blog evolved — I would like to think it has gotten much better! At least the photography has! Also, my blogging now falls into less than a handful of pretty specific categories. And it’s less frequent — which is ok with me!
5. Describe what perfectly Priya is all about in 10 words or fewer:
Currently doing, wearing, and loving in Nashville and California.
6. What's been the most challenging thing about blogging for you? the most enjoyable?
Finding the time! Then sometimes I have the time and blogging is not what I want to do. Getting back into it after taking breaks. Constantly working on content/pictures. Normal #bloggerprobs I would say.
Most enjoyable — actually making friends! Friends I know I could hang with in real life. Also — just like with journaling — going back and reading old posts and remembering things. It makes it completely worthwhile.
Funny you ask, I wrote a post about that at the start of the year! General themes — re-design (new bio picture, updated bio, pages, etc.), being consistent with posting & interaction, and writing about what I like. In 5 years, I hope I’m still blogging, let’s start with that. I don’t really have growth goals. I want it to still be something I enjoy.
8. What are your favorite five items in your wardrobe right now?
This is a fun question. Statement earrings. Boyfriend jeans. Purple jelly sandals. Black Maxi skirt. Pink “dress coat.”
9. What has been your most popular post so far?
I wrote a post a while back called "Hunter's First Outfit Post" where I forced my boyfriend to take some outfit pictures with me. He's a cutie, I guess that's it.
10. Anything else you want readers to know about you or your blog?
I try almost too hard to not take myself too seriously. I’m blogging for people to read and enjoy, but I’m also blogging for myself, and always trying to become a better writer. If you come by, please say hello! I promise I’ll come and say hey, even if it takes a while :)
Thanks, Priya! Stay tuned for more interviews coming up, and be sure to check out my Instagram for a squillion vacation photos while I'm out West.
