Drama Queen: Vintage Cardigan, Wide Leg Pants + Turban

There are the days you try to play it safe or really bring out your own personal style. And then there are the days you say, "Screw it, I'm going to flounce around in a turban and wide-leg pants, because this cardigan demands nothing less."

When I picked up this sweater, I honestly figured it was fairly ordinary, but I liked the color and the overall style. But when I tried it on, I realized it was pretty dramatic (those sleeves!). And things just kind of snowballed from there.

I am really trying to get behind the current move away from skinny pants ... but it's hard. I feel awkward in wide-leg styles, so I'm kind of playing around with them to try to get my groove back. (Savvy readers will recognize these trousers from this thrift outing and no, I didn't keep them — they went to the thrift store right after I took these photos!)

Mostly the thing that bums me out about wide-leg pants is the need to wear heels — and not just any heels, but just the right kind. These oxford heels are one of the few pairs of shoes I have that are a good fit for wider trousers.

What about you — wide legs or skinny pants? I think that, despite this experiment, I'm still firmly on Team Skinny for now.

All thrifted (cardigan available in my shop)
Total cost to me: About $15

  1. I understand the want to move away from skinny pants, but they are what makes me feel comfortable so I'm not gonna stress about it. That being said, I would love to try out some culottes.

  2. Oh, I am totally afraid of culottes! For whatever reason, haha. I just can't even imagine how I would style them. I think my heart is still with skinny pants, and that's OK, but I also really like trying out "new" (i.e. back in fashion) styles, so I am trying to branch out. But, you gotta go with what you love, right?

  3. I love the 30's/40's glamour of this outfit! This cardigan totally deserved this drama!
